Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) marked a significant milestone with the arrival of Eva, a one-year-old mixed-breed cat, making her the first pet to be imported through the airport under its newly acquired Animal Quarantine and Certification Services (AQCS) authorization. Eva’s journey from Doha to Kochi on an Air India flight was completed at 10:17 a.m. on Thursday, the airport stated in an official release.
A Flawless Experience for Eva and Her Owner
KA Ramachandran, a resident of Chelakkara, brought Eva home with the support of CIAL’s efficient team. The airport ensured a hassle-free experience, handling customs, immigration, and quarantine procedures with precision. Ramachandran expressed his gratitude for the seamless service, saying, “The coordination was exceptional. The entire process, from clearance to care, was conducted smoothly. I am deeply appreciative of the efforts to ensure Eva’s safe arrival.”
Kerala’s First Airport to Provide Pet
Import-Export Services
As the sole airport in Kerala authorized to manage pet import and export services, Cochin Airport has raised the bar for animal care. Since introducing its ‘Pet Export’ services in July, the airport has received approval from the Central Animal Husbandry Department, enabling it to provide specialized facilities. These include a pet station, veterinary support, and a fully equipped quarantine centre.
Looking Ahead: More Pet Arrivals on the Horizon
Building on its success, Cochin Airport is preparing to welcome another pet, a dog arriving from Belgium. Scheduled to land on Saturday, November 30, this will further cement the airport’s reputation as a trusted hub for pet transportation.
CIAL’s new AQCS certification represents a significant advancement in ensuring the well-being of animals during travel, highlighting the airport’s commitment to service excellence.
